Fundraising at Henderson Heritage Park
DISCOVER WAYS YOU CAN HELP SUPPORT HENDERSON MENNONITE HERITAGE PARK
Heritage Park’s Gathering Room
Henderson Mennonite Heritage Park’s Gathering Room groundbreaking took place on October 8, 2024. The cost of the building is a little over $600,000. Through the generosity of many supporters of the Heritage Park, $390,000 has already been raised. Therefore, construction has begun in anticipation that “If we start building, people will give.” IRONHIDE Construction out of Lincoln is the general contractor for the project, and ACRE DESIGN is the architectural firm. The building is 66’ x 36’ and will seat approximately 100 or more people. It features a large area for gatherings, an area for catering and serving food, plus two handicapped restrooms, three stalls in the women’s and two in the men’s. An added benefit to the building is a patio facing the depot for guests to relax and enjoy the view and an enlarged parking area with two handicapped accessible parking spaces. Once the building has been completed, tables, chairs, internet access, screen displays, a refrigerator and more will be required for guests to enjoy their stay. |
The Gathering Room will meet the needs of both the community and the Heritage Park. It will draw visitors year-round thanks to being climate controlled. It will be available for family gatherings, class reunions, receptions, meetings, daily tours and more. A special bonus will be offering space for larger bus tours to our museum and community. Attracting more people to York County and to the town of Henderson will benefit the local economy greatly.
Your support of collecting, preserving and educating people about Henderson’s unique history is greatly appreciated. Our Heritage Park Gathering Room will attract not only local visitors, but across the state and beyond. Last year, the Heritage Park had 1,335 Nebraska visitors, 314 out of state and 5 from foreign countries. Make sure to plan a visit to the park in the near future. We look forward to seeing you soon.

MEMORY BRICKS
This ongoing fundraising project continues to be very successful for the Henderson Mennonite Heritage Park. There is a brick patio in front of the Immigrant House where the names of the first 35 families are engraved on bricks. An adjoining patio houses the engraved bricks of the other Russian immigrants who followed. Sidewalks connecting the buildings from each end of the park contain memorial bricks. Bricks may be purchased for $150 each, which can be placed in the country school patio, in front of the country church, farmhouse and in the walkway leading to the Irrigation/Agriculture building. Contact Suzanne at 402.723.4252 or email [email protected] for more information about how to order a brick honoring your ancestors, family members and friends. |
